The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Product is a strategic leader responsible for driving the product vision, strategy, and execution across the organization. This role involves overseeing the full product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer needs, and market trends. The SVP of Product collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions that drive growth and customer satisfaction.
This role will drive the company’s transformation from a services-focused organization to a product-enabled company through the development of new technology platforms for healthcare philanthropy.
Product Strategy & Vision:
- Define a clear and compelling vision for our products, including new technology platforms and existing data analytics products, aligning them with customer needs and larger business objectives.
- Create and maintain the company’s product roadmap, ensuring alignment with the product vision and business objectives. Update and communicate the roadmap to guide development efforts and maintain transparency across teams.
- Prioritize product features and capabilities to maximize value and achieve business objectives.
- Deeply comprehend the company’s business model and how it relates to product strategy.
- Be knowledgeable about the history of products and their evolution to make informed decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success teams to ensure cross-functional alignment and seamless execution.
- Work closely with the SVP of Technology and their engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and successful implementation of product features.
- Work closely with the Chief Commercial Officer on go-to-market strategies and product positioning.
- Rally and align stakeholders around the product vision, ensuring a shared understanding and commitment to success.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and document detailed product requirements, user stories, and use cases.
- Create a shared knowledge base across larger teams, enabling independent decision-making that aligns with the product vision.
Market & Customer Insights:
- Continuously monitor the healthcare philanthropy market, conduct competitive analyses, and stay updated on industry trends to inform product strategy.
- Utilize market research, customer insights, and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities for product innovation.
- Champion customer feedback and usability testing to continuously refine and enhance product offerings.
- Run user group sessions to gather insights and feedback that inform product decisions and enhance user experience.
- Understand and represent user needs throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Develop expertise in healthcare foundation operations, donor management cycles, and healthcare data integration challenges and solutions.
Product Development & Execution:
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
- Define and track key product performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to optimize product success.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (including HIPAA), data privacy, and industry standards for healthcare data.
- Lead the company’s adoption of contemporary SaaS product management methodologies and best practices.
- Build a product organization that balances new development initiatives with existing products and solutions.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
- Represent the company externally as a thought leader in the industry, including speaking engagements, conferences, and customer interactions.
- Communicate product strategy, roadmap updates, and key initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
- Align with executive leadership on strategic goals and ensure product initiatives support overall business objectives.
- Formulate and articulate the value proposition of our solutions to clients, partners, and investors.
Budget & Performance Management:
- Oversee budget allocation for product initiatives and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Monitor and evaluate product performance against key business metrics, optimizing strategy as needed.
- Identify and mitigate risks that may impact product success, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Develop pricing strategies and revenue models for SaaS platforms and existing products.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in product management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Significant experience with SaaS product management and contemporary CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge).
- Significant experience leading product strategy for organizations transitioning from service-based to product-enabled business models.
- Working knowledge of healthcare philanthropy processes, donor management cycles and workflows, and CRM usage in an enterprise environment.
- Proven track record of successfully launching B2B SaaS products and scaling products in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience working with healthcare data systems and understanding of challenges in integrating with existing EMR systems.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven mindset.
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, product development frameworks, and go-to-market strategies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
- Experience in Healthcare Philanthropy, Healthcare Technology, is required.
- Familiarity with cloud-native products and solutions (Microsoft Azure), contemporary data warehousing paradigms, and analytical solutions delivered via business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
