Senior Vice President of Technology
GOBEL
The Senior Vice President of Technology is responsible for establishing and executing the data and technology vision to support GOBEL’s strategic goals and developing new solutions that meet the evolving needs of the healthcare philanthropy market. This position provides leadership across three technology areas:
- Leading enterprise information security, compliance, and governance for a SOC 2 certified environment that processes PHI records on behalf of healthcare customers
- Building and leading a software engineering team to develop new technology platforms and offerings for healthcare philanthropy
- Building and leading the data analytics team in modernizing and enhancing existing analytics and data warehousing systems and solutions
Strategic Data & Technology Leadership
- Establish, execute, and communicate the technology and data vision, strategies, and technical architecture for both our new technology platforms and existing data analytics offerings to internal stakeholders, external partners, and investors
- Build and lead high-performing software engineering and data analytics teams
- Create and implement technology roadmaps aligned with product strategy and business objectives. Oversee all technological resources, ensuring the protection of assets while evolving to meet organizational needs
- Discover and implement new technologies that provide a competitive edge, focusing on AI, ML, predictive modeling, and other trends relevant to healthcare philanthropy
SaaS Platform Development
- Lead the architectural design, development, and deployment of modern, cloud-native SaaS platforms for healthcare philanthropy
- Establish software engineering and development standards, CI/CD pipelines, quality assurance processes, and technical documentation practices
- Work closely with the SVP of Product to translate product requirements into technical implementations
- Implement contemporary software development practices and frameworks including Agile methodologies, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), and automated testing
- Ensure platform security, scalability, maintainability, and observability
Data Analytics Modernization
- Lead the technical modernization of our existing data analytics and predictive modeling offerings.
- Address technical debt in the current system while maintaining service continuity.
- Oversee the implementation of data engineering best-practices, including the establishment and maintenance of data pipelines, data architecture and modeling, and integration solutions.
- Optimize and standardize data operations through the implementation of contemporary tools and frameworks for maintainable data pipelines.
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide leadership to teams including IT, data science, engineering, analytics, business intelligence, fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.
- Conduct regular check-ins and hold meetings with team members to discuss priorities, remove roadblocks, and provide strategic guidance.
- Mentor and support team members’ professional growth through coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
- Partner with internal divisions to ensure cohesive engagements and delivery of quality products and services.
Information Security, Compliance & Data Governance
- Ensure HIPAA compliance across all systems and implement policies that meet all regulatory requirements and standards. Manage the Information Security function and work closely with the Information Security Officer to develop and implement information security strategies and processes.
- Oversee the maintenance of our SOC 2 Type 2 certification across all five trust services criteria.
- Lead the company’s initiatives to attain additional industry certifications in information security (e.g., HITRUST, PCI-DSS, NIST).
- Establish and maintain cybersecurity controls and systems for a cloud-hosted data warehouse environment containing healthcare records and PHI.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the SVP of Product on product strategy, technical feasibility, and implementation planning.
- Engage with senior leadership, clients, and stakeholders to align data initiatives with business goals.
- Provide regular insights and KPI reports, using advanced analytics to inform decision-making and strategic opportunities.
- Ensure client satisfaction through outstanding service, supporting the seamless delivery and impactful usage of data solutions.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear business terms for non-technical stakeholders.
Budgeting & Performance Monitoring
- Monitor IT budgets and KPIs, seeking innovative ways to enhance technological performance.
- Conduct regular technological analyses and research to identify improvements that maximize ROI for clients.
- Ensure that all technological resources align with the organization’s short- and long-term goals.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive management experience in IT, data science, or technology leadership, ideally in a healthcare or philanthropy-focused environment.
- Experience in architecting, building, and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms, preferably in healthcare B2B environments.
- Experience in managing the full software development lifecycle for enterprise B2B applications.
- Strong expertise in cloud-native applications (preferably Microsoft Azure) and modern software development practices.
- Experience with HIPAA compliance and secure computing environments containing PHI data.
- Experience with healthcare IT and data systems, integrations, and IT compliance required.
- Experience in maintaining SOC 2 (or comparable) certification across all five TSCs
- Strong understanding of data warehousing best practices, including ETL/ELT, data modeling, data visualization, and analytics pipelines.
- Experience with data engineering and workflow orchestration tools, data transformation tools, and modern data stack technologies.
- Experience with building and supporting customer-facing dashboard solutions using Tableau, Power BI and/or other contemporary data visualization tools. Experience with AI, ML, predictive modeling, and implementing data science solutions in production environments.
- Experience integrating disparate data sources, particularly with EMR and CRM derived data. Experience in modernizing legacy systems while maintaining service continuity.
- Proven experience in budgeting, business planning, and managing KPIs.
- Excellent communication, management, and supervisory skills, with the ability to mentor, train, and lead high-performing teams across software engineering, data analytics, and infosec.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical abilities, and a problem-solving mindset.
- Able to communicate complex data and technology concepts effectively with employees, stakeholders, and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
