$10M+ healthcare gifts in May 2024:

  • Children’s Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center announced a $100M donation from the Jean and Mack Pogue family in support of the $5B new Dallas pediatric campus, which will be named Pogue Park.
  • Nationwide Children’s Hospital announced a $100M donation from the Nationwide Foundation, supporting the hospital’s long-term strategic plan aimed at transforming health outcomes for children locally and around the world.
  • Nonprofit organization, Dăruiește Viață, raised €53M to renovate and open the Marie Curie Hospital, a pediatric hospital in Bucharest.
  • Houston Methodist donated $50M to Legacy Community Health to expand healthcare in the Pasadena community. The funds support the construction of the new Legacy Pasadena Southmore clinic, as well as another location.
  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia announced a $50M donation from Mitchell L. Morgan, Dr. Hilarie L. Morgan and their family to name The Morgan Center for Research and Innovation, supporting pediatric research.
  • The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation celebrated a $50M pledge from the Los Angeles Dodgers Ownership Group to improve education, health care, homelessness and social justice for all Angelenos.
  • Hong Kong Baptist University received a HK$230M ($29.4M USD) donation from the Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation to establish the Wu Jieh Yee Institute of Translational Chinese Medicine Research and support Chinese medicine research.
  • UC San Diego announced a $21M donation from Aiiso Yufeng Li and his wife, DongDong Li, naming the Aiiso Yufeng Li Family Department of Chemical and Nano Engineering. The largest two research focus areas within the department are nanomaterials for human health and nanomaterials for sustainable energy.
  • The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center received a $20M donation from the Belfer Family. The gift names The Robert A. and Renée E. Belfer Research Building and supports a multi-institutional initiative to advance the study and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
  • The World Health Organization Foundation announced that Maybelline New York has pledged $20M by 2030, supporting mental health services.
  • Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital received $15.1M from YouTube streamer Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo stemming from funds raised during the Build Against Cancer charity livestream. Funds support the 3rd floor of the Domino’s Village housing center.
  • Valley Children’s Hospital celebrated a $15M anonymous The funds will support pediatric cancer patients, advanced bone marrow transplants, and to create an advanced Cell Therapy Program.
  • Hoag announced a $15M donation from Julia and George Argyros supporting the Julia Argyros Center for Nursing Excellence.
  • Texas A&M University celebrated two donations totaling $15M from the Robert A. Welch Foundation and Jon Hagler to support the Hagler Institute for Advanced Study. Research in chemistry will conduct multidisciplinary chemistry research benefitting health science, environmental science, and commercialization.
  • San Francisco State University received a $14M donation from Genentech Foundation supporting San Francisco State’s Genentech Foundation Scholars and PINC (Promoting Inclusivity in Computing) programs. The latest grant supports freshmen and sophomores studying science and medicine fields.
  • The Texas A&M University System received a $10.75M donation from the Amon G. Carter Foundation, supporting the capital development of the Fort Worth campus. The campus includes the Law & Education building, serving students in biotechnology, engineering, health sciences, law, medical laboratory sciences, nursing, and more.
  • AlphaLab Health, an accelerator program developed by Innovation Works and Allegheny Health Network, received a $10M grant from an anonymous donor to create an evergreen fund that will help life science companies grow at their earliest stages.
  • Jupiter Medical Center received a $10M donation from Nancy and Hugh Elliott to establish the Elliott Family Center for Cardiac Electrophysiology. The gift supports the existing electrophysiology lab, adds an additional lab, and supports future growth and expansion.
  • The University of Washington School of Nursing announced a $10M bequest from UW chemistry professor emeritus Larry R. Dalton and his wife, Nicole A. Boand. The gift supports nursing scholarship and expands clinical education.
  • Western University in Ontario celebrated a $10M CAD donation from the Temerty Foundation, supporting ALS research.
  • Humber River Health Foundation received a $10M CAD donation from the Honey & Berry Sherman Legacy Foundation to support healthcare access in North West Toronto.
