$10M+ healthcare gifts in October 2024:

  • Alice Walton donated $250M to establish the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine in Bentonville, AR.
  • Seoul National University Hospital’s Children’s Hospital celebrates a ₩300M ($218M USD) estate gift from the late Lee Jae-yong supporting the Child Cancer and Rare Disease Project.
  • University of Texas Southwest Children’s Health received a $100M gift from the Rees-Jones Foundation to support a new pediatric campus.
  • The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health announced a $203M CAD donation from Bruce McKeane and the Waverley House Foundation, naming the Waverley House Secure Care & Recovery Building.
  • Every Cure celebrated a $60M commitment from TED’s Audacious Project to research repurposed treatments to support global health.
  • The University of Michigan received a $50M donation from Richard and Susan Rogel to create the Rogel and Blondy Center for Pancreatic Cancer.
  • Northern Illinois University announced a $40M gift from the Baustert Family Foundation to establish the Baustert Bahwell Health Technology Center, supporting health professions education and transdisciplinary research.
  • Christopher’s Hospital for Children received a $30M gift from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Jefferson Health, Temple Health, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine supporting operations of the Philadelphia children’s hospital.
  • The University of Rochester celebrated a $30M donation from the Saunders Foundation, naming Saunders Center for Orthopaedics & Physical Performance, endowing a professorship, and supporting scholarships for nursing students.
  • The UHN Foundation announces a $30M CAD gift from three families – John and Rosella D’Angelo, Giuseppe and Lidia Maio, and Claudio and Gina Memme – to support the surgical tower at Toronto Western Hospital.
  • Mayo Clinic received a $25M donation from the Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. Family to establish the Gerstner Scholars Program in AI Translation.
  • The University of Michigan announced a $25M donation from Gilbert S. Omenn and Martha A. Darling to name the Gilbert S. Omenn Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics.
  • Northwestern Medicine received a $25M donation from Wendy and Jim Abrams and the Eleven Eleven Foundation endowing the Abrams Research Center on Neurogenomics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
  • Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in New Mexico celebrated a $20M gift from the Anchorum Health Foundation. The funds support construction of a new cancer center, employee recruitment and retention programs, and clinical support.
  • The University of California Irvine received a $20M gift from Robert A. Mah and Dr. Adeline Yen Mah and the Falling Leaves Foundation to support the Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building.
  • Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Needham announced a $20M gift from grateful patient Valerie Trotman and family. This gift will establish the Trotman Family Campus Transformation Fund.
  • Bethel University celebrated a $20M gift from Barb and Rollie Anderson, naming the Anderson Family College of Health Sciences.
  • Cornell University announced a $20M donation from John and Melissa Ceriale to support student mental health on campus.
  • Cornell University also celebrated a $15M donation from Irwin M. Jacobs and the Jacobs Family endowing the Joan Klein Jacobs Center for Precision Nutrition and Health in the College of Human Ecology.
  • Dartmouth Health and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth have received an estate gift of over $14M from the estate of the late Walter and Carole Young supporting the Walter and Carole Young Pancreas Center, Walter and Carole Young Center for Digestive Health, and the Walter and Carole Young Professorship in Genera Surgery.
  • The University of Manitoba announced a $12.5M CAD donation from The Gates Foundation to support its Institute for Global Public Health.
  • Shriners Children’s Ohio received a $11.5M donation from the Jursich Family establishing The Jursich Care Center.
  • Mary’s General Hospital Foundation received $11.1M CAD from the estate of the late Ralph and Dorothy Kraft, benefitting the Regional Cardiac Care Centre and local healthcare initiatives.
  • Futuro Health received a $10.2M grant from the Elisabeth C. Deluca Foundation. The funding will support tuition-free training for allied and behavioral healthcare roles in Connecticut and Florida’s Tri-County area.
  • John Hopkins Medicine received $10M from James and Heather Gills to support the Wilmer Eye Institute and establish the James P. Gills Jr., M.D., & Heather Gills Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center.
  • Eskenazi Health received a $10M gift from the Lilly Endowment to support internships to college students with physical disabilities.
  • Elizabeth Healthcare received a $10M donation from the Yung Family Foundation to promote access to quality care in the Northern Kentucky region.
  • Trillium Health Partners Foundation announced a $10M CAD donation from Mona and Ash Singh to support the future Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and wellness program for hospital staff.
