$10M+ healthcare gifts in August 2024:
- Columbia University announced a $400M donation from Roy and Diana Vagelos which will be used to invest in biomedical science research and education and support the school’s goal of improving society’s health and well-being.
- Perth Children’s Hospital and Teleton Kids Institute announced a A$135.5M donation from the Perron Foundation which supports research into more effective and less toxic treatments for childhood cancer.
- The University of California Los Angeles announced a $120M donation from Gary and Alya Michelson supporting the California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy and create an endowment supporting young scientists’ research.
- Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons celebrated a $20M donation from the David Koch Jr. Foundation to establish the David Koch Jr. Glomerular Kidney Center.
- Yale University announced a donation from the John B. Pierce Laboratory and Foundation, expected to be valued at $20M, to create and endow professorships which promote science.
- The late-Kay Van Norton Poche donated A$20M to the Northern Sydney Local Health District to create a national clinical trial hub in Sydney, Australia and establish a partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
- Tulane University celebrated a $17.2M donation from Myrna L. Daniels which will fund geriatric and healthy aging initiatives, clinical research, a faculty chair in geriatrics, and capital improvements at Tulane School of Medicine.
- University Hospitals announced a $15M donation from Iris S. and the late-Bert L. Wolstein which will be used to create the Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Center, an education and conference center at UH Cleveland Medical Center.
- The University of California San Francisco celebrated a $14M pledge from Crankstart Foundation and will create a new career training initiative to encourage community members, especially youth, to pursue careers in the health professions.
- Cleveland Clinic received a $13M gift from The Howley Foundation to expand the Howley ASPIRE Pathways Program through 2036.
- Wilcox Medical Center announced an over $10.6M gift from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to expand and develop imaging programs and capabilities on Kauai.
- Tulane School of Medicine celebrated a $10M donation from the Marshall Family, via the Marshall Heritage Foundation and Marshall Legacy Foundation, in honor of E. Pierce Marshall Jr. The gift creates a faculty chair, a dedicated research fund, and laboratories.
- The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine received a $10M donation from The Robert F. Wolfe and Edgar T. Wolfe Foundation to establish the Rita Jean Wolfe Deanship.
- LifeBridge Health received a $10M donation from Ellen W.P. Wasserman to create an endowed scholarship fund for medical students at the Regional Medical Campus (RMC) at Sinai Hospital, a partnership with The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
