$10M+ healthcare gifts in July 2024:
- John Hopkins University announced a $1B donation from Michael R. Bloomberg and Bloomberg Philanthropies. The gift will allow most medical students to attend John Hopkins University for free and receive support for living expenses, as well as provide financial aid for nursing, public health, and other graduate programs to help ensure access for top talent from middle-class and low-income families.
- The University of California Irvine celebrated a $50M donation from Joe C. Wen and his family. The gift names the Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health, the Mary & Steve Wen Cardiovascular Division, and the Tsai Ya Au Heart & Vascular Pavilion at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
- Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine celebrated a $29M donation from Julie Wood and the Tom & Julie Wood Family Foundation. The gift supports the new medical school, which will be named the Tom and Julie Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine.
- Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center launched the SNF Global Pediatric Cancer Program to expand access to pediatric cancer care thanks to a $25M grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
- Carilion Clinic announced a $25M donation from Nicholas F. and Jenny Taubman to support the newly named Carilion Taubman Cancer Center, supporting and expanding cancer programming.
- The University of Utah Health broke ground on the James LeVoy Sorenson Center for Medical Innovation which was supported by a $22M donation from the Sorenson Legacy Foundation.
- The University of Kentucky received a $16M donation from the Bill Gatton Foundation establishing the Barbara B. Edelman Barnstable-Brown Endowed Faculty Fund at the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center.
- The Norton Children’s Hospital announced a $15M legacy gift from Sarah Michelle Boes and her family supporting the Norton Children’s Congenital Heart Center.
- Peconic Bay Medical Center celebrated a $10M donation from Emilie and Michael Corey, supporting the newly named Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants.
- Huntsville Hospital announced a $10M anonymous donation to add five new floors to the Madison Street Tower facility, including a new neuroscience ICU, an ICU, and expand the ED.
- Southern Cross University received an A$10M donation from the Blackmore Family Foundation to further develop research and education in the field of naturopathic medicine.
