$10M+ healthcare gifts in February 2024:
- The Albert Einstein College of Medicine received a $1B gift from Ruth Gottesman, a former professor at the medical school, eliminating tuition for all students going forward.
- New York University Langone Health Ambulatory Care Center in West Palm Beach announced a $75M gift from the Julia Koch Family Foundation supporting the construction of the new facility, expected to open in 2026.
- The ALS Association received a $58M estate gift from the late Hugh Hoffman, supporting ALS research and access to patient care.
- The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center received a $50M commitment to the Wolfe Foundation, naming two spaces – the John F. Wolfe Lobby and the Wolfe Foundation Crossroads – in the Hospital Tower set to open in 2016.
- The DeVos Family Foundation donated $50M to support medical, rehabilitative and mental health care programs for West Michigan children and teens through grants to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, and Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services.
- Red Deer Polytechnic received a $20M CAD gift from the Donald Family, creating the Donald Family Institute for Healthtech Innovation.
- The Albanese Government committed A$20M to the Australian government funding a wide-ranging national research program that will give new hope and help to Australian children, adolescents, and young adults with childhood brain cancers, including Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) through the Medical Research Future Fund for clinical trials and vital work to find new treatments.
- The American Cancer Society announced a $15M grant from Pfizer, launching “Change the Odds: Uniting to Improve Cancer Outcomes, a three-year initiative to bridge the gap in cancer care disparities.
- In South Australia, the Fay Fuller Foundation committed A$15M to Our Town, a program which supports mental health and stigma reduction.
- Two organizations, Magee-Womens Research Institute and Good + Foundation, received a $10M gift from Perelel to fund women’s health research and address gaps in maternal healthcare.
- The University of California Los Angeles announced a $10M donation from the Howard and Irene Levine Family Foundation. The gift creates the Howard and Irene Levine Family Center for Movement Disorders, endows four professorships, and establishes a research fund into Parkinson’s disease.
