$1M-$9.9M healthcare gifts in August 2026:

  • Eleven research projects, including teams at Massachusetts General Hospital, NYU, and the University of Amsterdam, received $9 million from the Tiny Blue Dot Foundation on August 29 to study perception, mental health, and consciousness, with a focus on adolescent anxiety, autism, and chronic pain.
  • The Duke University Physician Assistant Program received a $7.6 million gift from alumnus Edmund Joseph Wise, Jr. on August 28 to establish a scholarship endowment and fund equipment for PA students. Wise is a member of the program’s eighth class and a Vietnam veteran.
  • Fifty five research recipients, including UCSF, received more than $7.5 million from the Parkinson’s Foundation on August 20 to accelerate new Parkinson’s therapies and treatments.
  • The V Foundation for Cancer Research celebrated nearly $7 million raised at its 28th Annual Wine Celebration on August 3, supporting cancer research.
  • Spartanburg County, South Carolina received a $6 million, five year commitment from the Mary Black Foundation on August 12 to launch Vital Spartanburg, a mental and behavioral health initiative.
  • The American Cancer Society received a $5.45 million gift from the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation on August 11, establishing the American Cancer Society Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Postdoctoral Fellows Fund. With $1.7 million from ACS, the $7.1 million fund will support at least 28 early career cancer researchers over six years.
  • Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital received a $5 million gift from Connie Spears on August 28 to expand the Roberta G. Veloz Cardiovascular Services. The gift names the Wayne and Connie Spears Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
  • The VCU School of Dentistry received a $5 million gift from the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation on August 25 to support a new building expanding clinical capacity, dental education, and patient access across Virginia, the foundation’s largest gift to date.
  • USF Health received a $5 million gift from Caroline Sue Martin and Farrell Tyson on August 23, establishing the USF Health Tyson Martin Eye Institute with an endowed ophthalmology chair, an ophthalmic technician training program, and satellite clinics, in honor of the late Dr. Benjamin Martin.
  • The UT Health Science Center College of Medicine received a $5 million lead gift from the First Horizon Foundation on August 12 for a new seven story interdisciplinary education and research building, launching a $50 million campaign.
  • Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center received a $5 million gift from the Clausen family of Storm Lake, Iowa on August 6 to support a research initiative on tuberous sclerosis complex focused on personalized medicine.
  • The UAB O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center received a $5 million gift from Norman Estes, president and CEO of NHS Management, LLC, on August 4, establishing the Estes Family Clinical Trials Program and renovating the clinical trials office.
  • Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt received a $5 million gift from the Featherstone and Johnston families on August 4, establishing the Lily’s Garden Pediatric Leukemia Program and bringing the families’ total giving to $8 million.
  • The American Nurses Enterprise received $5 million from Google.org and the Johnson & Johnson Foundation on August 20 to expand AI training for nurses nationwide, prioritizing rural, remote, and underserved communities.
  • Sixteen community health organizations across 11 states received $4.5 million from The Pfizer Foundation and Direct Relief on August 12 to strengthen infectious disease prevention, screening, testing, and treatment in medically underserved communities.
  • The CHUM Foundation received a $3.5 million CAD gift from BMO on August 18 to support four projects, including mental health innovation, a patient accessibility fund, sustainable hospital development, and a Research Chair in Thoracic Surgery at Université de Montréal. The gift is the largest the foundation has received from a financial institution.
  • PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center received a $3 million gift from local physician Dr. Richard Nau on August 30, endowing a healthcare mentorship program for high school students.
  • Researchers at UCSF, the University of Kentucky, Penn, and the University of Alberta received $3 million from the Rainwater Charitable Foundation, alongside the Alzheimer’s Association, the Aging Mind Foundation, and CurePSP, on August 31 to advance tau protein and neurodegenerative disease research.
  • Twenty early career investigators at institutions including Baylor College of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, and Washington University in St. Louis received $3 million from the Leukemia Research Foundation on August 30 to support leukemia research.
  • The Montana State University Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing received a $2.5 million gift from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust on August 11 to fund simulation lab equipment across five campuses, strengthening the rural nursing pipeline.
  • The Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial Medical Center received a $2.5 million gift from Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner on August 25, establishing the Karlie Kloss Center for Maternal Health with a renovated obstetric emergency room and patient rooms.
  • Phoenix Children’s celebrated a record $2.46 million raised through the 18th Annual Phoenix Children’s Give A Thon on August 21, supporting the Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund.
  • Eight Central New York providers received $2.3 million from the Saint Agatha Foundation on August 7 to support breast cancer imaging, equipment, and care.
  • Baptist Health Foundation received a $2 million gift from the Argosy Foundation on August 19, establishing the Baptist Health Innovations Collaborative Innovation Fund to seed AI, digital health, and care delivery projects in partnership with FIU and FAU.
  • The Rio Tinto Canada Fund invested $2 million CAD on August 26 to advance healthcare innovation in Quebec:
    • The MUHC Foundation received $1 million CAD to support the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (Mi4) and its work on antimicrobial resistance.
    • The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation received $1 million CAD to support the SMART Hospital Project and wireless monitoring for pediatric patients.
  • City of Hope received a $1.5 million gift from its own oncologist, Dr. Joanne Mortimer, on August 10 to endow a professorship in hormone receptor positive breast cancer research.
  • The UAMS Health Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital in Springdale received a $1.5 million pledge from the Schmieding Foundation on August 13 to support construction and operation of the hospital. The physical therapy gym and cardio suite will carry the foundation’s name.
  • The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy received $1.2 million from the W.M. Keck Foundation on August 12 to research a new gamma secretase approach to Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Baptist Health Foundation received a $1 million gift from Earl and Christy Powell on August 19, split between the Stem Cell Therapy Fund at Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute and the Center for Spine Care at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute.
  • Baptist Health Foundation received a $1 million gift from Julio and Alexandra Herrera on August 3 to support the NICU at South Miami Hospital and women’s health renovations at Baptist Hospital’s Lake Pavilion.
  • AtlantiCare Foundation received a $1 million gift from the Lees family of Margate and Longport on August 21, in honor of James Lees, Sr., to support stroke and neuroscience emergency care at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus.
  • Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia received a $1 million commitment from Allan and Ursula Soto on August 21 to expand developmental and behavioral health and autism services and launch a Family Navigator program.
  • HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital received a $1 million gift from retired anesthesiologist Dr. Babu Prasad on August 11, celebrating his 80th birthday, to fund lifesaving NICU equipment including temperature controlled transport beds. The gift is his second $1 million gift to the NICU.
  • The UAMS Health Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital received a $1 million gift from Brenda Gullett and Robert R. Gullett Jr., M.D. on August 20, naming the Dr. Bob Gullett Clinic for Sports Medicine.
  • Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation received a $1 million CAD gift from Serfas Farms on August 10 to support the Bringing Hearts Home campaign for a regional Cardiac Centre of Excellence.
