$10M+ healthcare gifts in April + May 2025:
- The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (the Global Fund) announced that The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) made a $150M commitment. The funds support the fund’s global health, infectious disease work.
- The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Children’s Hospital announced a $150M gift from the Kinder Foundation. The gift launches the Kinder Children’s Cancer Center.
- Fudan University received a $138M donation of stock from Li Ping and Liao Mei. The gift establishes the Xue Min Natural Science Research Fund of Fudan University.
- The New York Genome Center celebrated a $125M commitment from the Simons Foundation International and Carson Family Charitable Trust. The funds support the organization’s core operations through 2029.
- Tel Aviv University announced a $125M gift from Mindy and Jon Gray. The gift names the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
- Children’s Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center announced a nine-figure grant from the Moody Foundation. The gift names the hospital’s new hospital the Moody Children’s Hospital.
- Diabetes UK celebrated a £100M pledge from the Bukhman Foundation. The gift supports research to accelerate progress towards new treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes.
- The University of South Carolina received a $75M gift from Peter and Bonnie McCausland and The McCausland Foundation. The gift names the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences, supports the college’s neuroscience major, and enhances the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging.
- NYU Langone Health celebrated $60M in gifts committed to women’s health.
- The Allison and Roberto Mignone Family Foundation donated $50M to launch the Magnone Women’s Health Collaborative.
- An additional $10M gift from Kenneth C. Griffin also supported the Magnone Women’s Health Collaborative. Additionally, his gift establishes the Griffin Healthspan and Vitality Center within the collaborative.
- The World Health Organization Foundation entered into a $57M strategic framework agreement with Novo Nordisk Foundation. The funding and agreement support global health programming.
- The University of New South Wales announced a A$50M donation from the Ainsworth Family. The gift supports endometriosis research.
- Brigham and Women’s Health received a $50M bequest intention from Carol N. Wyett and the late Allen S. Wyett. The gift supports facilities on the Brigham campus.
- King’s College London celebrated a £35M donation from Inkfish. The gift supports the Enhanced Maternal and Baby Results with AI-supported Care and Empowerment program of studies.
- The Marcus Foundation announced a grant of $29.7M supporting a collaboration between University of Michigan and Stanford University. The gift supports research giving stroke patients the ability to “speak” by detecting and interpreting brain signals.
- Weizmann Institute of Science in Tel Aviv, Israel announced a $25M gift from Zuckerman Israel Institute. The gift establishes the Zuckerman Center for Research on Learning, Memory, and Cognition and the Zuckerman National Neuroscience Research Program.
- Children’s Hospital Los Angeles celebrated a $25M gift from The Tikun Olam Foundation of the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles. The gift establishes the Stein Tikun Olam Early Connections Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
- University of California Los Angeles announced a $25M gift from Shirley and Walter Wang. The gift establishes The UCLA Walter and Shirley Wang Center for Integrative Digestive Health.
- Georgetown University received a $25M donation from the Berkley Family. The gift names the Berkley School of Nursing.
- Northwestern University announced a $25M donation from an anonymous donor. The gift launches the Institute for Adolescent Mental Health and Well-Being.
- The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center announced an over $21M gift from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. The gift supports cancer research efforts and faculty recruitment.
- Kansas City University received an over $20M estate gift from the late Paul W. Dybedal, DO and Mary Louise Dybedal. The gift supports advancing osteopathic medical education, research, behavioral health and student scholarships.
- Purdue University celebrated a $20M gift from Greg and Amy Baker supporting research in a new center within the College of Pharmacy. The facility will be called the Center for Health Analytics and Therapeutic Intelligence.
- The National Academies of Sciences received a $20M donation from the family of the late Philip Needleman. The gift establishes the Philip and Sima Needleman Family Legacy Fund, which will support two initiatives: the existing NAS Frontiers of Science program and a new effort to rapidly respond to urgent national and global challenges in science, engineering, and medicine.
- IU Health celebrated a $20M donation from John and Deborah Lechleiter and Randall and Sarah Tobias. The gift establishes the Tobias-Lechleiter Institute for Clinical Innovation at Indiana University Health.
- Providence Holy Cross Foundation announced a $16M gift from the estate of Julian and Gladys Saunders. The gift supports the hospital’s construction of two new operating rooms, renovation of the medical center’s emergency department trauma room, and establishes an endowed chair supporting clinical excellence in trauma and palliative care.
- UHN Foundation announced a $15M CAD gift from The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, launching the Canada Leads 100 Challenges. The gift, which hopes to inspire matched giving, supports early-career scientists recruitment to Toronto.
- The American Heart Association announced a $15M project supporting researchers at Augusta University, Massachusetts General Hospital and The Ohio State University. Researchers will study the way risk factors for cardiovascular and kidney disease impact women.
- Agnes Scott College received a $15M donation from Mary Lou Cornwall Hawkes and James B. Hawkes. The gift supports the college’s Physician Assistant program.
- NYU Langone Health celebrated a $15M gift from the Blavatnik Family Foundation. The gift supports the research of Dr. Evgeny A. Nudler, advancing cancer therapy, antibiotic resistance, and anti-aging.
- Nanyang Technical University Singapore received a S$15M donation from the Sim Foundation. The gift supports the NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine’s education and research and names the Sim Hoay Cheok – Sim Foundation Library.
- Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation announced a A$13M gift from the Mounties to support the creation of Mounties Care Cottage, families will have access to a dedicated and specialized pediatric palliative care designed to feel like home.
- The WHO Foundation received a $12.5M commitment from Laerdal Global Health. The gift supports an acute care training program for health workers in select African nations.
- Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles celebrated a $12M gift from the Alfred E. Mann Charities. The gift establishs the Alfred E. Mann Cell and Gene Therapy Research Endowment and the Alfred E. Mann Cell and Gene Therapy Research Fund.
- Lyon College received an $11M gift from the Arkansas Animal Rescue Foundation. The gift established the Katharine Reese Shelter Medicine and Animal Welfare Program at the Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine.
- The RM Schulze Family Heart and Stroke Critical Care Center at NCH celebrated a $10M gift from Jay and Patty Baker. In honor of their gift, the catheterization labs and boardroom in the future center will be named for the couple.
- The University of Alabama at Birmingham announced a $10M gift from the Killion family. The gift creates the Wayne Killion Endowment for the Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics and names the Killion Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics at the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine.
- Northwestern University received a $10M gift from Kimberly Querrey. The gift establishes The Querrey Simpson Institute for Regenerative Engineering to advance research to regenerate and reconstruct tissues and organs.
- Northwell Health’s Northern Westchester Hospital celebrated a $10M gift from Lisa and Mark Schwartz. The gift supports programmatic efforts to advance critical services for the Westchester community.
- Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory received two, $10M gifts – from The Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound) and matched by Marilyn Simons. The gifts launched the Seckin Endometriosis Research Center for Women’s Health, an initiative dedicated to advancing research and discovery in endometriosis.
- University of California Los Angeles announced a $10M gift from Heidi and Larry Canarelli through their family foundation. The gift supports the UCLA Arline and Henry Gluck Stroke Rescue Program and establishes the Canarelli Family Oligodendroglioma Brain Tumor Research Fund.
- The Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California received a $10M gift from the Alfred E. Mann Charities. The gift supports the USC Cardiac and Vascular Pavilion within the USC Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Keck Hospital of USC, as well as funds research and a fellowship program in the USC Neuro Revascularization Center, and breakthrough medical imaging in the USC Center for Innovation in Medical Visualization. In addition, the gift establishes the Alfred E. Mann Chair in Cardiac Surgery.
- Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Foundation announced a $10M gift from Henry and Marilyn Hansel. The gift establishes the Hansel Family Care Center as part of hospital’s strategic expansion to meet community needs.
- Varsity Brands announced a $10M pledge to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The gift names The Varsity Brands Play Deck at The Domino’s Village.
- The University of Haifa received a $10M gift from the Azrieli Foundation. The gift establishes the Azrieli Advanced Nursing Center, expanding the school’s nursing program.
- The University of Southern California celebrated a $10M gift from The Honorable R. Rex Paris, JD. The gift launched the USC Parris Longevity Accelerator, an initiative designed to deepen scientific understanding of aging and accelerate the development of treatments to delay or prevent age-related diseases.
- The Ohio State University celebrated a $10M gift from Stan and Jodi Ross. The gift supports the new Wexner Medical Center hospital and names the neurology program’s 14th floor in the new hospital.
