$10M+ healthcare gifts in June 2025:

  • Gavi announced a commitment of $1.6B in funding from The Gates Foundation. The funds support global vaccination efforts.
  • Sutter Health received a $110M gift from an anonymous donor. The donation will accelerate Sutter Health’s expansion and innovation initiatives, reinforcing its vision to deliver high-quality, comprehensive, and accessible care to communities across Northern California.
  • The University of Copenhagen announced a $109M gift from Novo Nordisk Foundation. The gift establishes the Centre for Protein Design.
  • The African Medical Centre of Excellence celebrated a $75M donation from the Ford Foundation. The gift supports subsidizing the cost of treating, curing conditions including sickle cell disease, cancer.
  • Vancouver General Hospital received a $60M CAD donation from the Dilawri Foundation. The gift establishes the Dilawri Cardiovascular Institute, supports capital construction, and supports an innovation fund for cardiovascular research.
  • St. Joseph Health Centre celebrated a $60M CAD donation from Peter Gilgan. The gift funds a new patient tower in Toronto.
  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn Medicine announced a $50M donation from Jeff Lurie and his family. The gift establishes the Lurie Autism Institute, a joint initiative to drive discoveries with transformative impact for patients with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center celebrated a $50M donation from Jane and Daniel Och. The gift will support the Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at MSKCC and names a lobby of the new Griffin Pavilion building.
  • Medical University of South Carolina received a $50M donation from an anonymous donor. This investment will accelerate MUSC’s mission to help people live longer, healthier lives, and address South Carolina’s most pressing health challenges.
  • Mayo Clinic announced a $50M donation from Gilchrist and Amy Berg. The gift names the Mayo Clinic Berg Innovation Exchange, accelerating global healthcare innovation.  
  • University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus celebrated a $40M anonymous donation. The gift supports CU Anschutz Department of Ophthalmology, supporting research and new therapies.
  • Michigan Medicine received a $40M donation from Kenneth Eisenberg. The gift supports and names the Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg Troy Center for Specialty Care in honor of the donor and his late wife.
  • The University of Utah announced a $31M gift from Sigma Chi International Fraternity. The gift establishes the Sigma Chi Center for Advanced Therapeutics and Innovation at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
  • UNSW Sydney received a A$25.9M gift from the Swire Group. The funds will allow the Kirby Institute at UNSW Sydney to screen thousands of women in seven Pacific countries for cervical cancer.
  • UVA Health celebrated two, anonymous donations, each $25M. Both gifts support the Paul and Dianne Manning Institute of Biotechnology.
  • University Hospitals announced a $23.5M gift from the Veale Foundation. The gift establishes the University Hospitals Veale Healthcare Transformation Institute, focused on revolutionizing healthcare.
  • Florida Gulf Coast University received a $22M donation from the Elaine Nicpon Marieb Charitable Foundation. The gift supports the FGCU’s Marieb College of Health & Human Services.
  • The University of British Columbia celebrated a $22.5M CAD donation from the Gordon B. Shrum Charitable Fund. The gift launches the UBC AI and Health Network.
  • The University of Chicago received a $21M donation from Thea Berggren. The gift establishes the Berggren Center for Quantum Biology and Medicine, launching a scientific field that merges quantum technology with biology to transform the future of medicine.
  • The University of Sydney announced the anonymous donation of an original Picasso which resulted in a A$20.7M gift. The donation provided seed funding for the Charles Perkins Center focused on chronic disease.
  • Mount Sinai Medical Center received a $15M donation from Dr. Semyon and Janna Friedman. The gift establishes The Semyon and Janna Friedman Advanced Research Institute, focused on medical research and clinical innovation.
  • University of Kansas celebrated a $15M pledge from David Seitz in support of scholarships for students at KU School of Medicine.
  • Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine announced a $15M estate gift from Helen and Frank Spurr Jr. The gift increases the college’s capacity to carry out clinical trials of new treatments and diagnostic procedures.
  • The University of Southern California celebrated a $12M donation from the Lord Foundation of California. The gift launched the Institute on Ethics & Trust in Computing, which will offer ethical guidance and resources to students and researchers on the development and applications of artificial intelligence and other technologies that are now commonplace across business and finance, health care, national security, and science.
  • The University of Chicago Booth School of Business received a $12M donation from Mary Tolan. The gift names and supports the Tolan Center for Healthcare, focused on integrating business and medical points of view to address the complex challenges facing the healthcare sector.
  • St. Michael’s Hospital and Providence Healthcare announced an $11M CAD donation from the Krawczyk Family Foundation. The gift supports Indigenous Health and Reconciliation in Toronto and other Canadian communities.
  • The University of Miami received a $10M donation from Lois Pope in memory of her daughter, Lorraine Pope. The donation will establish the Lois Pope Neuroscience Research Fund and name the Lois Pope Laboratory Wing at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis in memory of Lorraine Pope.
  • Lakehead University announced a $10M CAD donation from Kim and Stu Lang and their foundation, Angel Gabriel Foundation. The donation supports the construction of an animal medicine facility on Lakehead’s Thunder Bay campus.
  • Christ Hospital celebrated a $10M donation from the Lindner Family and the American Financial Group. The money will be used to renovate and expand the hospital’s Carl and Edyth Lindner Center for Research and Education and includes the addition of a research laboratory.
  • The Lustgarten Foundation received a $10M donation from the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation. The donation will support efforts to revolutionize early detection of pancreatic cancer through AI.
