$10M+ healthcare gifts in August 2025:

  • Oregon Health & Science University made philanthropic history, announcing a $2B donation from Phil and Penny Knight. This gift, the largest donation to healthcare, supports the Knight Cancer Institute, cancer care, and research.
  • Rabin Medical Center received a $180M gift from Shmuel and Anat Harlap. The gift supports construction of Hope Tower, a cardiological and neurological center in Petah Tikva, Israel.
  • Murdoch University announced a A$100M donation from Ted Powell. The donation supports the university’s veterinary school and supports increasing the number of veterinary students by 50%.
  • Kaleida Health celebrated a $50M donation from Tom Golisano and The Golisano Foundation. The gift re-named the Oishei Children’s Hospital as the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
  • Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation announced a $40M CAD donation from the late John Thomas Fancsy. The donation names the new Windsor/Essex Acute Care Hospital as The Fancsy Family Hospital.
  • The University of California Los Angeles School of Nursing celebrated a $30M donation from Joe C. Wen and his family. The gift named the UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing.
  • Sutter Health received a $30M donation from the Kvamme Foundation. The gift establishes the Jean and E. Floyd Kvamme Advanced Cancer Center providing oncology care in Santa Cruz, CA.
  • The University of Texas Medical Branch celebrated a $30M grant from The Sealy & Smith Foundation. The grant establishes the Sealy Heart and Vascular Institute and the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine.
  • The University of Oxford celebrated a £27M grant from The Paul Foundation supporting young people’s mental health. The Oxford Centre for Emerging Minds Research will serve as a hub to investigate how to promote good mental health and prevent and treat emerging mental health conditions by identifying and harnessing children and young people’s aptitudes and interests and targeting the key mechanisms that underpin mental health in children and young people.
  • Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA announced a $25M donation from Mark Terasaki. The unrestricted contribution will be dispersed over a period of five years and support the institution’s operating budget, salaries, and day-to-day operations.
  • Houston Methodist announces a $25M donation from The Duncan Fund. The donation named the Houston Methodist Charles W. Duncan Jr. Department of Medicine.
  • The National Breast Cancer Foundation granted A$25M to the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. The funding supports research focused on stopping breast cancer recurrence, with the long-term goal to halve deaths from breast cancer.
  • The Christ Hospital Health Network celebrated a $15M donation from The Farmer Family Foundation. The grant funds a new cardiac operating suite within the Heart & Vascular Institute and advanced imaging technologies.
  • Beth Israel Lahey Health celebrated a $15M gift from Dr. Emanuel and Sheila Landsman. The gift will support the rejuvenation of the Dr. Emanuel and Sheila Landsman Hybrid Operating Room that will advance clinic transformation at the hospital.
  • Tampa General Hospital announced a $10M gift from the Jenkins Charitable Foundation. The gift funds a new hybrid operating room at Tampa General.
  • Children’s Hospital Los Angeles received a $10M gift from the Wyss Foundation. The gift supports the Hansjörg Wyss Orthopedic Trauma Initiative and expands orthopedic services to CHLA’s Santa Monica Specialty Care Center.
  • Washington University in St. Louis celebrated a $10M donation from Jerry and Judy Kent. The gift creates the Judy and Jerry Kent Business of Health Catalyst Fund, which will provide spendable resources to rapidly scale Olin’s Business of Health initiative.
  • West Virginia University Medicine (WVU Medicine) announced a $10M donation from the Wheeling Hospital Foundation. The gift named the WVU Cancer Institute St. Joseph Regional Cancer Complex.
  • The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine received a $10M estate gift from the late Leah Wightman. The gift supports upgrading three landmark round barns on the university’s campus.
  • Mount Desert Island Hospital celebrated a $10M donation from Dick Wolf. The gift accelerates the construction of an emergency department, surgical suites, and a new entrance.
